Two sea-bream are the protagonists of this canvas, taking precedence over the other motives around them: a dish towel, a garlic bulb, some paper wrapping, probably filled with spices, two Alcorcón-style earthenware bowls, a long-handled pan, a mortar whose pestle extends into the background and an oil cruet. Along with the other surfaces, these reveal a careful study of light as a means of defining volume, diversifying tonalities and distinguishing materials.
