The Museo del Prado is exhibiting the Rosendo Naseiro Collection of still lifes which entered the Museum’s collection two months ago. This is the most important, specialised private collection in private hands world-wide and its incorporation into the Prado’s holdings makes the museum the principal point of reference for the Spanish still life. The exhibition, sponsored by BBVA, is structured chronologically and around the different thematic groups represented by the forty still lifes. The paintings will be displayed in a gallery adjoining the permanent display of Spanish still lifes.

The exhibition The Hidden Line aims to reveal the under-drawings present in some of the Museo del Prado's most important fifteenth- and sixteenth-century paintings. These are drawings executed by artists such as Bosch, Botticelli, Raphael and Fernando Gallego during the course of creating their paintings and at the stage prior to applying the paint. Such under-drawings, in black chalk, metal point, ink or charcoal, are obviously not visible to the human eye as they are concealed by the paint layers.

With the latest issue just published, the Boletín del Museo del Prado is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Over that period it has published the latest research into the Museum's collection and its history. Founded in 1980 by José Manuel Pita Andrade, the Boletín is one of the principal vehicles through which the Museum disseminates its scholarly activities to the academic community and interested members of the public.
