Being a good professional in the field of technical documentation requires having a set of clear ideas. The work of art is the important thing—the work and nothing else. It is important to focus on the pictorial layer before and after preparing the documentation. We look at the painting and the technical documentation, considering everything we have discovered thus far and studying it again from this viewpoint. That's exactly what we are doing with Velázquez. We prepare the technical documentation, we have the painting in front of us and we comment with the curator everything that each of us has found. For me that is one of the ways to prepare the technical documentation: considering the different tests, the historical documentation and the conversation arising between them.
