I have a few memories of John Berger, who was a very special man. I remember at home he made a wonderful drawing of an onion--because aside from everything else he was a great artist. I remember his eyes, such deep eyes that were always looking, setting everything. My English was not the greatest thing but he wanted us to understand each other, so using the three languages we could we ended up understanding each other. It was a privilege to meet him and his family. We ended up meeting his daughter and one or two of his wives.
Anything he said was special, deep. He was not a superficial person.
