Female Head

Early XVII century. Black chalk, Red chalk on dark toned paper.

This is a study of a female head turned three-quarters to the right, with lowered eyes and a closed mouth. This drawing depicts a figure with a very imposing and almost sculptural nature. It is most likely from the beginning of the 17th century, with a strong Renaissance echo.
