Male Portrait
Ca. 1840.Room 062
The portrayed person wears a black frock coat and white shirt, and a bow tie. Oval ivory plaque with vintage frame, gilt, fluted and embossed with flowers on the top. From the preserved works it seems that Decraene leaned more towards the representation of women, but he worked with the same skill on the portrait of men. His great aptitudes for miniature are accentuated when he works in small formats intended for bracelets, brooches, rings or tie pins.
