This canvas forms a pair with that of the sitter’s husband, Count Jacob of Rechteren-Almelvo (P-2225). Inés María Aguirre y Yoldi was born in Cádiz and married in 1783, the year when the Count was Dutch ambassador in Madrid. Both portraits are painted in a precise, rather restrained manner.
