The world seen from a monastery

The Middle Ages was a period of long journeys: real journeys but also virtual ones. Many people went to Rome, Santiago de Compostela and Jerusalem, but far more only travelled to these places and other much more distant ones in their minds. In order to do so they had the invaluable help of places and images that transported them around the globe

Presented by Joan Molina Figueras, Head of the Department of Spanish Gothic Painting.
