The Discobolus by Polyclitus in the Museo del Prado

Discobolus Bust by Polyclitus, (Greek original 460 B.C.). Roman replica c. 130 – 140 B.C.
The Discobolus was Polyclitus’s first work. The Museo del Prado has an exceptional torso of this subject that was donated to the Museum by Claudio Bravo. Following the invention of the Discobolus model, Polyclitus developed the Doryphoros twenty years later, then the Diadumenos at the end of his career.
