A portrait of king Fernando VII (1784-1833), with the sash of Carlos III and the Golden Fleece, standing in front of a military bivouac.
It is probably modeled after the Portrait of the King with his Robes of State (P735), which is also at the Prado Museum and renders the Monarch's face and posture in an almost identical manner.
This work was commissioned by the School of Civil Engineering through architect Francisco Javier Mariategui. From there, it entered the Trinity Museum by Royal Order of 24 May 1869.
