Child nudes were very common during
the painter's final period. This
one reveals Fortuny's mastery at
representing nudes and the effect
of light on different surfaces,
including the human body and the
sandy beach. It suggests the
relaxed and pleasant atmosphere of
a body surrendered to the sun's
warmth and energy.
This painting entered the Prado
Museum as part of the legacy of
Ramón Errazu.
