This is one of the most beautiful vessels at the Prado Museum. It has an oval body with handles in the form of winged women. The central band is decorated with a hunting scene that may well represent Meleager's Hunt described by Ovid in the Metamorphoses (Book VIII) or perhaps wild boar hunting at Arch of Constantine in Rome.
This work was part of the legacy inherited by King Felipe V (1683-1746) upon the death of his father, the Grand Dauphin, in 1712 and belongs to the set of decorative artworks at the Prado known as The Dauphin's Treasure.
