One of the images most repeated in Raimundo de Madrazo's oeuvre was the figure of his model, Aline. Here, she appears half-length, elegantly dressed, and with the unworried, banal expression that characterized this artist's female portraiture, which was focused on the Parisian bourgeoisie of the last third of the nineteenth century.

This painting entered the Prado Museum as part of the legacy of Ramón de Errazu.
