The Prado Museum, guided by the desire to promote and encourage research on its collections from a gender perspective, has made significant contributions in recent years with studies linked to exhibition projects such as The Art of Clara Peeters (2016), The Other’s Gaze: Spaces of Difference (2017), and A Tale of Two Women Painters: Sofonisba Anguissola and Lavinia Fontana (2018).
The continuity of this commitment is evident through the publications framed within The Female Perspective, both in the books linked to its different thematic routes and in the series Art and Gender in the Museum. The Prado Collection, co-published with Amsterdam University Press.
