Agustín Esteban Collantes

Agustín Esteban Collantes (Carrión de los Condes, Palencia, 1815–Madrid, 1876) was a lawyer, member of parliament and economist. He married Manuela María Miguel Lucuy, and one of their sons, Saturnino, was an important politician. This portrait is a studio work that repeats the model of the portrait painted by Federico de Madrazo in a private collection. He wears the uniform of a minister, on which he displays the badges of Knight Commander of the Order of Charles III, of the Legion of Honour and of the Portuguese Order of Christ and the great cross and Constantinian sash of Saint George of Parma.
