Aiguablava
1917. Oil on canvas. Not on displayA view of the rocky cliffs of Aiguablava, painted from nature and probably over the course of numerous sessions. The short and rapid brushstrokes and the attention to the effect of the light on the boulders, the greenish sea, the whitewashed houses and the deeply blue sky reveal Gimeno´s closeness to contemporary European painting, especially that from France, where the practice of outdoor painting opened a artistic path that would lead to Impressionism.
