Alfonso XIII wearing the uniform of captain-general of the Artillery
1906.On display elsewhere
This is a portrait of Alfonso XIII (Madrid, 1886–Rome, 1941), King of Spain between 1886 and 1931. He wears the Golden Fleece on his uniform, as well as a pin with other decorations and the crosses of the four Spanish chivalry orders: Santiago, Calatrava, Alcántara and Montesa. In the background is the Alcázar of Segovia (headquarters of the Artillery Academy), where the painting was probably intended to have been displayed.
