A veiled woman is depicted seated, facing forwards with her left arm resting on a fluted column shaft. It is a preparatory drawing for the corresponding tapestry cartoon (P007354), in the Virtues series, which Castillo completed in 1771 and which was woven to decorate the King’s room in the Royal Palace, where it is kept.
