Apparition of the Virgin to a Sick Person
XVII century. Wash, Pencil on yellow paper. Not on display
On a bed to the left, a sick man sits up and directs his gaze to a painting of the Virgin of the People carried in by some angels. In the background to the right, a bearded saintly monk points to the painting with his right hand and chases death away from him.
No possible points of comparison can be observed. Therefore, it makes impossible to accept or reject the attribution of this drawing. It seems certain that the drawing dates from 1650–1700. Furthermore, it presents strong Italian influences.
