Christ presented in the Temple
Second quarter of the XVII century. Oil on canvas. On display elsewhere
This painting combines two ceremonies typical of Jewish law, the purification of the Virgin and the presentation of Jesus to the old man Simeon. The latter appears giving the Child to Mary, kneeling, and in the presence of St. Joseph. The composition is particularly interesting within the production of Nardi, a Tuscan who spent some time in Venice and whose chromatic palette does not usually have the brilliance and luminosity that we find in this example.
