Dead Christ
1703. White chalk, Black chalk on laid wrapping paper, blue prepared paper. Not on display
Christ is depicted lying on the ground, with the upper part of his body leaning on something. In the foreground, the nails and the crown of thorns can be seen.
It is a study for a Pietà or a Burial of Christ, similar to the one etched by Conchillos himself in 1672. The technique is the same as that of his renowned nude figure studies. Another similar example, dated 1693, is kept at the Academy of San Fernando.
