Fan with ivory ribs
XVIII century. . Not on displayThis fan has inlaid ivory ribs with Chinese motifs and some gold touches with paint at the bottom; the guides are also made of ivory with pebble-like painted motifs. The paper leaf is decorated with painted and golden Chinese-type flowers and biblical scenes: on the front, Samson is lashed to the columns of the temple, and on the back perhaps it is the Queen of Sheba visiting Solomon. Japanese in origin, the fan was regarded as a luxury object and an extraordinary gift for a woman (Text drawn from exp. Los Objetos Hablan, Sevilla, 2016)
