Male Head
After 1781. White chalk, Red chalk on blue laid paper. Not on display
This is a drawing of a rough nature. In this work, the head is studied in detail: it is depicted from the front, looking upwards and foreshortened. It is clearly a copy of the preparatory drawing for the head of Saint John the Evangelist by Francisco Bayeu (D000495) for the fresco Regina Apostolorum, painted in 1781 and located in the left nave of the Holy Chapel of the Basilica of the Pilar in Zaragoza.
