1910. Oil on canvas. Not on display
Inspired by the Arthurian legend of the Holy Grail, the opera Parsifal tells the story of the eponymous hero who, rejecting Kundry’s attempts at seduction, retrieves the Grail from the treacherous sorcerer Klingsor. A loyal enthusiast of Richard Wagner (1813-1883), Egusquiza used the best performers as models for depicting the main characters in the composer’s famous opera cycles.
