Pietá
XVII century. Pencil, Grey-brown wash, Pencil ground on laid paper. Not on display
This drawing depicts Christ lying dead, with his torso leaned against the knees of the seated Virgin, who takes the Saviour’s hand in her left.
The attribution to Herrera the Younger appears difficult to acknowledge. The drawing may not even be considered Spanish but rather Flemish.
