Saint Augustine Meditating on the Trinity
Second half of the XVIII century. White chalk, Black chalk on grey paper. Not on display
The Saint on the beach gazes at the child seated next to the hole. The Trinity appears in the sky with dead Christ supported by angels before the eternal father. It is a variant of D000676. For this drawing, the Trinity was taken from a composition by Giaquinto, now in the Museo del Prado (P003204). It is also repeated in the cupola interior of the presbytery of the chapel of the Royal Palace.
