Saint Sebastian
1650 - 1660. Pencil, Grey-brown wash on laid paper.Not on display
Saint Sebastian is depicted tied to a thick trunk, with one leg on the ground and the other tied at a certain height. He gazes up to the sky.
The attribution to Carreño does not seem to be sufficiently founded. This work was made in Madrid around 1650–60 and is somewhat reminiscent of Cano’s style in his pen stroke and his rendition of the human figure.
