Sheet of studies with a happy and three lions rampant
XVI century. Wash, Pencil, Grey-brown ink on yellow paper. Not on display
An old attribution to Agostino Carracci (1557-1602) appears on the reserve of the sheet. In a note on the modern museum matte, Keith Andrews suggested Battista Franco?, to which comment Catherine Monbeig Goguel has added copie. In spite of this difference of opinion over the drawing´s quality, it seemed more logical to place the drawing under Franco´s name, rather than of Agostino Carracci, with whose work it seems to have little in common.
