Studies of a right eye, a face in profile to the left, and a human skeleton
First half of the XVI century. Red chalk on paper. Not on display
The left profile of a head drawn at the bottom of the present sheet is similar to that at the lower right in Studies of face in profile to the left (D1737). The studies of a right eye in right profile immediately above the face relates precisely to an exercise that Michelangelo seems frequently to have set and seems to follow a model such as that seen in a drawing in the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, referred to under Studies of faces.
