The Arrest of Christ

First half of the XVI century. Wash, Pencil, Grey-brown ink, Pencil ground, White lead on brown paper.

The style is unquestionably sixteenth-century Emilian and close to that of Pupini, who was a close follower of Polidoro da Caravaggio. Some echoes of the work of Amico Aspertini (1474/75-1552), another Emilian, are apparent in this work.
