The Penitent Magdalen
Second half of the XVII century. Grey-brown wash, Ink, Pencil on laid paper. Not on display
Mary Magdalen is seated and reclining on a rock, resting both hands on the skull and looking up at the adolescent angels gazing down at her from heaven. A cherub holds the jar of ointment behind her.
Probably Andalusian, the work could have been made in Seville during the second half of the century. However, it is not easily classifiable.
