The penitent Saint Jerome
XVI century. Pencil, Grey-brown ink on yellow paper. Not on display
This drawing has the same composition as D01674. In fact, the only noticeable difference lies in the present work´s greater shading. It may be related to the composition of Saint Jerome in the Desert, one of the frescos painted by Cambiaso and his assistants on the side walls of the Main Chapel at the Basilica of El Escorial.
