Francisco Domingo Marqués´s work shows features of the reformulation of Impressionism, which took place in Spain thanks to Luminism, whose main representative author was Sorolla. Features of this movement included the new treatment of the qualities of light and the purity of colour, as well as the freedom and speed of gesture which shows the conversion of the original language of Impressionism into something quite different. The luminous intensity that can be appreciated in Domingo Marqués is far from harmonious. The light, in its rawness and southern nature, makes the viewer appreciate the property of colour in its purity as well as the powerful chromatic and tonal contrast between dark and illuminated areas.
