The Virgin and Child appearing to Sts. Christopher and Francis
XVI century. Grey-brown wash, Pencil, Grey-brown ink on yellow paper. Not on display
This appears to be by a follower of the Sienese painter Casolani, rather than by the master himself. The head of St. Francis, with its large nose and bulbous lips, seems especially unfortunate,. The drawing is otherwise well handled and fluent.
