The drawing´s former attribution was to Lorenzo Sabbatini (ca. 1530-1576), who like Samacchini, worked mostly in Bologna. The technique and handling, especially the angular treatment of the folds of drapery, seem however closer to Samacchini, and the drawing compares especially well with the previous study.
