Upper Part of a Tunic for the Figure of Saint John the Evangelist
1771. White chalk, Black chalk on green paper. Not on display
This is a preparatory drawing for the tunic belonging to the figure of Saint John the Evangelist for one of the pendentives of the Cupola in the Royal Palace of La Granja of San Ildefonso. The Cupola was destroyed in the fire of 1920. The study of the garment is very thorough. It corresponds to the figure of the saint in the sketch for the fresco (P002486) that is kept at the museum as well as to the preparatory drawing for the head of the same figure (D003276).
