Various Studies / Figure of a Monk
First half of the XVII century. Black chalk, Red chalk on grey paper. Not on display
This work was made in Madrid between 1600–50. It has been attributed to Carducci, which we have to understand to mean a reference to Vicente Carducho. This attribution cannot be rejected outright, but neither is it entirely convincing. Nevertheless, it is a high-quality drawing that anticipates what Carreño would later produce.
