Anna María Teresa Mengs

Dresden (Germany), 1751 - Madrid (Spain), 1792

She was the daughter and disciple of Anton Raphael Mengs. In 1778, she married the engraver Manuel Salvador Carmona in Rome, and together they had seven children. The couple settled in Madrid, where she later became a member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. She became especially famous for her pastel portraits. She has been attributed the portrait of Anton Raphael Mengs in the Prado Museum (Sánchez del Peral y López, J. R. in E.M.N.P., 2006, Vol. V, p. 1530).
Her portrait appears in drawing D9568 in the Prado Museum.
