Blanca Muñoz
Madrid (Spain), 1963She graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in 1988. She received annual scholarships in 1989 from the Calcografia Nazionale in Rome and in 1990 from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome. She has been awarded numerous prestigious prizes, including the National Engraving Award in 1999 (VII edition of the National Calcography), the Villa de Madrid Engraving Award Lucio Muñoz in 2002, and the first BBVA Foundation Call for Aid to Researchers, Innovators, and Cultural Creators in 2014.
Her extensive exhibition history includes numerous group exhibitions, such as those at the Louisa Guinness Gallery in London (2016, 2017, 2018), the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington (2018), IVAM (2011, 2012), ARCO Marlborough Gallery in New York and Madrid (annually since 1998), Art Paris Fair (2013, 2014), the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao (2014), and the Esteban Vicente Museum (2004). Some of her notable solo exhibitions include several at the Marlborough Gallery in Madrid and at its London and New York locations (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2015, 2018), the Community of Madrid (2013), Sala la Galera in Valencia (2010), the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (2004), and Art Cologne (2001).
Her works are displayed in museums throughout Spain, such as the Reina Sofía Museum, the Calcografía Nacional, and the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava. In the international scene, her works are part of collections like the Würth Collection in Germany, La Quinta Colorada in Mexico City, and the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome.
