Emilia Carmena Monaldi signed her works as Emilia Carmena de Prota. The second last name in her signature is not her maternal last name, Monaldi, but that of her husband, Alejandro Prota, who was an agent for the Duke of Alba. She is the author of a work in the Prado Museum, the portrait of "Juan Antonio Martínez Alcobendas" (P5938), and other works that are preserved in other collections such as Patrimonio Nacional.
