Fernanda Francés y Arribas
Valencia (Spain), 26.2.1862 - Valencia (Sapin), 21.4.1938She was a student of her father, Plácido Francés, and specialized in flower painting and still life. In 1888, she won a competitive appointment to the Chair of Painting at the School of Arts and Crafts and later at the Home Economics School, both in Madrid. From 1881, she frequently participated in the National Fine Arts Exhibitions in Spain. In 1887, she received an honorary mention, in 1890 a third-class medal for her work "Jarrón de lilas," and in 1897 a second-class medal for the painting "Ostras y pájaros." In 1912, she was awarded a decoration (Fernández Martínez, D. in Encyclopedia of the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation, Madrid, 2006, pp. 1093-1094).
