She was an editor and printer specializing in satire. Gillray worked exclusively for her from 1791 and lived in her house for the last twenty years of his life. Her business was inherited by her nephew George Humphrey. The establishment changed locations over time, including Bond Street (1774); 18 New Bond Street (1779-82); 51 New Bond Street (1783-89); 18 Old Bond Street (1790-94); 37 New Bond Street (1794-97); and 27 St James's Street (1797-1817).
