Marcela de Valencia y Codallos

Madrid (Spain), 1775 - Spain

Marcela de Valencia y Codallos was the Countess of Casa Valencia. Like some other ladies of the Spanish nobility, she cultivated the art of miniature painting. In 1805, she presented to the admissions exam for the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando a composition depicting Saint Sebastian, a copy of Luca Giordano, for which she was named an academic of merit. In the Academy's 1806 Exhibition, she presented the miniatures "Three Women," and in the 1807 Exhibition, a miniature titled "Head of a Woman”.
