Volcxken Diericx

Antwerp (Belgium), c. 1525 - Antwerp (Belgium), 1600

She was an engraver and publisher from Antwerp, in 1570, after the death of her husband, the engraver and print publisher Hieronymus Cock (1518-1570), she took over his publishing house 'Aux Quatre Vents'. She and her new husband, Lambrecht Bottin, are mentioned by Plantijn as being responsible for a series of engravers and print sellers in Antwerp between 1577 and 1580. From the death of Hieronymus Cock in 1570 until her own death in 1600, all prints published under the name "Aux Quatre Vents" did not include Cock's name.
