Editatona II. El Prado en femenino
May 16, 2024
The Museo Nacional del Prado and Wikimedia España are organizing a new Wikipedia editing workshop. This is the second event focused on the exhibition thematic route El Prado en femenino.
An editathon is a collective and simultaneous editing event on Wikipedia aimed at reducing the gender gap on the internet. The goal is to improve and create articles, generally proposed in advance and related to a specific topic, from a gender perspective. In this case, the event is part of the exhibition thematic route El Prado en femenino II: Artistic Patrons of the Museum’s Collections (1602-1700). The proposal is to add entries and works of artists with limited information or no articles yet to the free encyclopedia, as well as to review existing Wikipedia entries about key figures associated with the Museo del Prado (patrons, collectors, benefactors, etc.).
The event will consist of two sessions. In the first session, which will be online and educational in nature, basic guidelines for editing Wikipedia will be presented, and instructions on how to gather references and information will be provided so participants can begin working on the proposed articles. In the second session, held in person at the Sala de las Musas at the Museo Nacional del Prado and online via Zoom, participants will edit and publish the content on Wikipedia.
