Didactic Exhibition: The Prado in Arcos de la Frontera
Paseo de Andalucía. Arcos de la Frontera 3/3/2023 - 3/26/2023
The project “El Prado in the streets” in various towns of Andalucía sponsored by Fundación Iberdrola España and Museo del Prado, was displayed in Arcos de la Frontera in its third venue, thanks to the collaboration of Regional Government of Andalucía and the town council. The project is a “virtual” journey through the outstanding collections of painting housed in the Museo Nacional del Prado, taking shape in the form of a photographic exhibition of some of the Museum’s greatest masterpieces: 50 works have been selected from the most important in the collection. The reproductions are shown at a scale of 1:1, however, due to the dimensions of the exhibition stands, this means that, for some of the larger works, only a magnificent and striking part of the work can be seen, with a smaller representation of the entire painting shown in the explanatory panel.
This large, open-air exhibition, enabled visitors to tour the different artistic schools covered by the Prado Museum's permanent collections -from the 12th century to the early 20th century- and learn about the history of Spain, Europe and Western art in general.
The explanatory panels with QR codes, lead to audiovisual content related to the artworks on display.
Also a printed brochure was prepared to offer visitors information about the Museum, its collections and the exhibition, with a list of the artworks displayed.
