A Sixteenth‑Century Venetian Portrait: "Federico Gonzaga, 1st Duke of Mantua", by Titian

Live video (in Spanish) focusing on the portrait of Federico II Gonzaga, 1st Duke of Mantua, painted on panel by Titian in 1529. The work is documented in a letter dated 16 April of that year, in which the Duke of Mantua apologised to his uncle, Alfonso d’Este, for detaining Titian, explaining that he had begun a portrait of him which he greatly wished to see completed (“perché ha cominciato un ritratto mio qual molto desidero sii finito”).

Today is the last day to vote for the Museo del Prado in the Audience Award of the @thewebbyawards. The winners will be announced on 27 April.

From Room 41 of the #MuseoDelPrado.
