Arte incómodo: "Joaquina Serrano Painting in Espalter’s Studio" by J. Espalter and "A Woman of Salamanca" by J. Serrano | Uninvited Guests

Joaquina Serrano Painting in Espalter’s Studio is one of the few images to record feminine artistic practices inside a studio. Joaquina is immortalised during a posing session for A Woman of Salamanca, one of the works she submitted to the 1876 National Exhibition, and among the most significant of her short career as a painter before her premature death. The work was acquired by the State from the artist in 1876.
