Installation of Caravaggio’s "Ecce Homo"
Thanks to the generosity of its new owner, who has placed the work on loan for nine months, Caravaggio’s Ecce Homo will remain on display at the Museo Nacional del Prado in a special single-work installation in Gallery 8A of the Villanueva Building.
Painted by the great Italian artist around 1605–09, and formerly part of the private collection of Philip IV of Spain, the painting is one of the approximately 60 known works by Caravaggio in existence, a fact that confers upon it an extraordinary value.
