Live-streamed talk with Mariaceleste Di Meo, PhD in Art History from the Università degli Studi di Udine and contributor to the exhibition In the Italian Manner: Spain and the Mediterranean Gothic (1320–1420), discussing the innovations introduced by Arnau Basa in the works produced by the family workshop in which he worked alongside his father, Ferrer Basa, within the artistic milieu of the Crown of Aragon.
Arnau Basa’s Altarpiece of Saint Mark and Saint Anianus, dated 1346, is on loan from the Basilica of Santa Maria de la Seu de Manresa (Diocese of Vic). Annunciation, Kings of the Epiphany and Saints, also attributed to Arnau Basa and dated between 1347 and 1348, comes from the altarpiece of the Collegiate Church of Saint Vincent in Cardona and has been lent by the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya. The panel Saint James, Crucifixion and Saints, by Ferrer and Arnau Basa and dated c. 1347, formed part of the Altarpiece of Saint James from Santa Maria de Jonqueres and is on loan from the Museu Diocesà de Barcelona.
